The In-between Time

So, the end of a decade. I am sure there will be thousands of these postings, a year in review, a decade in review, all the usuals at this closing of the calendar. I will say 2019 has been a challenge, but it has been an exciting challenge that leads me to so many wonderful opportunities for growth and exploration.

During your time at Sheridan, in the Musical Theatre discipline, you must complete 3 large, daunting, yet wonderfully amazing creative projects that stretch your own perceptions of your self and help you dive deep into who and what you are. These projects are a gift, upon reflection. During the process when in the mire of it all, it felt like I was spinning in circles, I would break free of one circle only to find myself in another but in the end looking back on all of the process I am amazed and so proud to have accomplished 3 major projects in one calendar year. So cheers to my Dance, Acting and Vocal creative projects!

This time of the year is one of my favourites, the days between the Christmas and New Years where everything feels like a Sunday, the food is still plentiful and the company is always enjoyable. It is also a time when things slow down. The hustle and bustle of the weeks leading up to the holidays seem to halt and the world goes quiet. The recent solstice reminds us that the sun is coming, but for now, we are still dealing with the early night and we can’t help but hold ourselves up inside with our creature comforts.

I like to take this time to look into the next year with great adventure and optimism, to see what I can dream up for the next 365 and beyond. 2020 holds so many possibilities and exciting opportunities, there will be challenges just like 2019 but I am now able to face them more head-on and with a more open mind. I have chosen the theme of “attitude of gratitude” (cheesy I know) for 2020 to see how I can begin to change my personal narrative.

So here’s to personal growth, a new decade, and so much more! Thank you 2010’s it’s been swell but onwards and upwards from here.
